A Little Bit About Your Chef David V. Young
I was born in the Low Country, I was raised in My Great-Grandmothers Gullah kitchen, the recipes were not written but the flavor was etched on my tongue like hieroglyphics on papyrus paper.
In November 2009 I opened, Chef David’s Roastfish and Cornbread with lots of support from Local and Native islanders and many visitors. I inspire all culinary excellence at ROASTFISH & CORNBREAD with love and passion for cooking. I am so proud to be able to serve Authentic Native Island Low Country Cuisine. Low Country cooks carved their cuisine from a culinary heritage endowed by their ancestors. Like the Creole cooking of New Orleans, Low Country food contains elements of French, Spanish, African and English traditions.
Being a Native Hilton Head Islander, My cooking is steeped in Gullah-Low Country tradition enhanced with new twists bringing tongue tantalizing flavor.
I was raised in my Great-Grandmothers kitchen, She was teaching me how to survive.
